Getting Started

How do I add a pet?

Tap the + button in the top right corner of the home screen. Enter your pet's name, choose a species and emoji, then configure their meal schedule. Tap Add pet to save.

How do I mark a meal as fed?

There are three ways:

  1. Home Screen: Tap the large button at the bottom of your pet's card
  2. Meal Row: Tap the circle icon next to the meal
  3. Widget: Tap the meal directly on your Home Screen Widget (no need to open the app)

How do I undo a feeding?

Tap the green checkmark circle next to a fed meal, or swipe left on the meal row and tap Undo.

How do I record someone else feeding?

Long-press the "Mark as Fed" button. A picker will appear showing you and your family members — select who fed the pet.

Family & Sharing

How do I add family members?

Go to Settings > Family Members > Add Family Member. Enter their name. Now when you long-press the "Fed" button, you can select their name.

Note: Family members added here are local display names for the "who fed" record. For cross-device sync, see Family Sharing below.

How does Family Sharing work?

Family Sharing (Pro feature) syncs your pet data across different iCloud accounts in real-time:

  1. Go to Settings > Share with Family
  2. Tap Start Sharing
  3. Send the invite to your family member via Messages, Mail, or AirDrop
  4. Once they accept, both devices will sync feeding data automatically

Why isn't my data syncing?

Meals & Schedule

How do I add more meals (Lunch, Snack, etc.)?

When adding or editing a pet, toggle on additional meals like Lunch or Snack, or tap "+ Add another meal" to create a custom meal with any name.

Free users can have up to 2 meal slots per pet. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited meals.

How do I set feeding reminders?

When editing a pet's meals, toggle on the Reminder bell icon next to a meal and set the time. You'll receive a notification at that time every day.

Make sure notifications are enabled: Settings > Notifications > On.

When does the day reset?

By default, all feeding statuses reset at 4:00 AM each day. This means a late-night feeding at 1 AM still counts for "today."

You can change this in Settings > Day Resets At (options: 2 AM – 6 AM).

What happens to my feeding history?

Feeding logs are stored permanently on your device. Free users can view the last 7 days in the History screen. Pro users have access to the full history with auto-loading as you scroll.

Medications

How do I add a medication? (Pro)

  1. Open your pet's edit screen (tap the pencil icon on their card)
  2. Tap Medications at the bottom
  3. Tap + Add medication
  4. Enter the medication name, dosage, frequency, and next due date

How do medication reminders work?

When a medication is due, you'll receive a notification. On the home screen, the medication appears in your pet's card with a "Due today" or "Overdue" label. Tap the circle to mark it as given — the next due date is automatically calculated based on the frequency.

How do I change or delete a medication?

Go to your pet's edit screen > Medications. Long-press (or swipe) on a medication to delete it.

Widget

How do I add the Fed? Widget?

  1. Long-press on your Home Screen
  2. Tap the + button in the top left
  3. Search for Fed?
  4. Choose Small (1 pet) or Medium (up to 3 pets)
  5. Tap Add Widget

Can I feed directly from the Widget?

Yes! The Widget is interactive (iOS 17+). Tap on a pending meal directly on the Widget to mark it as fed — no need to open the app.

How do I restore my purchase?

Open Fed? > tap on the Upgrade to Pro banner in Settings > scroll down and tap Restore Purchases. Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID and will be restored on any device.

How do I cancel my subscription?

  1. Open iOS Settings
  2. Tap your name at the top
  3. Tap Subscriptions
  4. Find Fed? and tap Cancel Subscription

Or in the app: Settings > Manage Subscription.

I paid but Pro isn't showing

Troubleshooting

The app isn't sending notifications

  1. Go to iOS Settings > Notifications > Fed?
  2. Make sure Allow Notifications is on
  3. In the Fed? app, go to Settings > Notifications and make sure the main toggle and sub-toggles are on
  4. Check that Do Not Disturb or Focus isn't blocking notifications

I accidentally deleted a pet

Unfortunately, pet deletion cannot be undone. If you're using iCloud sync, the deletion will sync to other devices as well. You'll need to re-add the pet.

The app is using too much storage

Fed? stores feeding logs over time. The app itself is lightweight. If storage is a concern, note that feeding history is the main contributor. A typical household generates less than 10 MB per year of data.

How do I reset the app completely?

Delete and reinstall the app. This removes all local data. If you used iCloud sync, your data may still be in iCloud — you can manage this in iOS Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Storage.
