Our commitment: Fed? is designed with privacy at its core. Your pet data stays on your device and in your personal iCloud account. We don't sell or share your personal information. We don't run ads. We have no servers of our own. The app sends us anonymous daily usage counts so we can see which features are used — never your pet names or feeding records, and you can switch them off in Settings.
What Data Does Fed? Store?
Fed? stores the following information locally on your device:
- Pet profiles — name, species, emoji avatar
- Meal schedules — meal labels and optional scheduled times
- Feeding logs — who fed, when, and which meal
- Medication records — medication name, dosage, frequency, and due dates
- Family member names — display names for people in your household
- Your display name — the name shown when you mark a meal as fed
- App preferences — notification settings, daily reset time
All of this data is created by you and stored on your device.
iCloud Sync
If you use the Family Sharing feature (Pro), your pet and feeding data is synced through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit). This means:
- Data is stored in your personal iCloud account, protected by your Apple ID
- Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple
- Only people you explicitly invite via iCloud sharing can see your data
- We (SmartKittos) have zero access to your iCloud data
- If you stop using iCloud sync, your data remains on your device

Feeding Links
If you create a feeding link (Settings → Family → Feeding Link), Fed? copies what the page needs into a record in a public iCloud (CloudKit) database belonging to Smart Kiitös, under a random address nobody can guess:
- your pets’ names and emoji, and the names and times of their meals
- who fed each meal today, and when
- the note you write on the page
- your time zone and daily reset hour, and when the link ends
Anyone who has the link can see this and mark a meal as fed by entering a first name. That name and the time are stored in the same database and added to your feeding history. No photos, medications, family member list, email or Apple ID are included. The page is served by Cloudflare, which passes its requests on to iCloud.
When you stop sharing, or the link reaches its end date, the link record is deleted and the page shows that the link has ended. Meals marked through the page stay in your history like any other feeding.
What We Don't Collect
We have no access to your pet data — it lives on your device and in your iCloud, not on any server of ours. The only thing we receive is the anonymous usage counts described below, plus what you choose to put on a feeding link.
- No email addresses or phone numbers
- No account registration required
- No location data
- No photos (the pet photos you add stay on your device and in your iCloud)
- No contacts access
- No advertising identifiers, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking
- No sale or sharing of your data with anyone
Anonymous Usage Counts
Fed? keeps anonymous usage counts so we can see which features are used and improve the app. They never include anything you create or enter, and you can switch them off in Settings → Privacy → Share Anonymous Usage Counts.
Your device keeps simple counters of feature events for each day. After a day is over, it uploads one summary record for that day to Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit) servers, into a public CloudKit database belonging to Smart Kiitös. No third-party service is involved, and no servers of ours.
What the record contains — and nothing else:
- Which app it comes from, and the date
- Your app version
- Your device’s region setting — the country chosen in system settings, not your location
- Whether you have Pro or not
- A coarse “days since install” bucket: 0, 1–6, 7–29, 30+, or “existing user”
- Counts of in-app events: which screens were opened, which features were used, which multi-step flows were started or completed, which errors were shown, when the upgrade screen was shown or closed, and purchases
What it never contains:
- Anything you create or enter — pet names, feeding times, notes, photos, family member names
- Your name, email, or Apple ID
- Any device identifier or advertising identifier
- Your location
Apple’s servers attach an opaque random identifier to each record. We do not read it, and we cannot link records to a person or to each other across days.
The counts are not linked to your identity, not used for tracking, not shared with or sold to anyone, and not used for advertising. Their only purpose is understanding which features are used so we can improve the app. In the App Store privacy label they are declared as Usage Data › Product Interaction, used for Analytics, not linked to you, not used for tracking.
Your control: it is on by default for everyone — including installations from before August 2026. Turning it off stops uploads and deletes any counts not yet sent.
Notifications
Fed? uses local notifications (on your device) to remind you about feeding times and medications. These notifications are processed entirely on your device and are never sent to any server.
Subscriptions & Payments
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store any payment information (credit card numbers, billing addresses, etc.). Apple processes all transactions according to their privacy policy.
Third-Party Services
Fed? uses two external services and no others. There is no advertising or social media SDK in the app.
- Apple's CloudKit — optional family sync, governed by Apple's privacy policy. Your pet data lives here; we cannot access it. Separately, it also receives the anonymous usage counts described above, stored in a public CloudKit database belonging to Smart Kiitös, apart from your own iCloud data. Can be switched off in Settings.
- Cloudflare — only if you create a feeding link: it serves the web page and passes its requests on to iCloud, as described above. We keep no log of who opens the page.
Crash information reaches us only through Apple's own App Store crash reporting, which is available to every developer and is aggregated by Apple before we see it.
Children's Privacy
Fed? does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app does not require any personal information to function — the display name you enter is stored locally and is never transmitted to us, including in the anonymous usage counts.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
