In the Name of the Park

Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 10, 2026
The short version: this app does not have a server. We — the developer — never receive your location, the parks you collect, or anything else you do in the app. Your data lives on your device and, if you are signed in to iCloud, in your own private iCloud account, which only you can access.

1. Who We Are

In the Name of the Park (以公园之名 / Puiston nimessä) is published by Smart Kiitös Oy (Finnish business ID 3231458-1), Helsinki, Finland.

If anything in this policy is unclear, email us: info@smartkiitos.com

2. What the App Stores

This data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData, and — when you are signed in to iCloud — synced to your private CloudKit database so it appears on your other devices. The developer has no access to this private database. There is no third-party backend.

3. Location

By default the app requests "While Using the App" location. Your location is used on your device to tell you when you are within ~500m of a park you have not collected yet. The coordinate where you collect a park is saved with that collection record (so your map of memories is accurate).

Optional background nudges. In Settings you can turn on background nudges. This is off by default; turning it on asks iOS for "Always" location so the app can monitor nearby parks and nudge you even while it is closed. The app monitors at most the ~20 nearest parks at a time, and background location updates stay off until you opt in.

However you use it, your location is processed on your device and is never sent to the developer or any third party. You can turn background nudges off, or revoke location access entirely, at any time in iOS Settings.

4. What We Do NOT Collect

Apple may provide the developer with aggregate, anonymized App Store metrics (e.g. number of downloads). This is handled by Apple under their terms and contains no information that identifies you. You can opt out via Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements on your device.

5. Deleting Your Data

6. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

7. Your Rights (GDPR / EEA)

Because your data is held in your own iCloud account and never reaches us, you remain in control of it at all times. You may access, export, or erase it using the steps above. For questions, contact info@smartkiitos.com.

8. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "Last updated" date.
