Symptio
What Data Does Symptio Store?
Symptio stores the following information locally on your device:
- Symptom records — symptom name, severity level, date and time
- Triggers — optional trigger tags you associate with symptoms
- Notes — optional free-text notes for each record
- Photos — optional photos attached to symptom records (e.g. skin conditions)
- Medications — medication names and dosage information you enter
- Family profiles — names and profiles for family members you track
- App preferences — notification settings, display preferences
All of this data is created by you and stored on your device.
On-Device Analysis
Symptio's Smart Insights feature analyzes your symptom patterns entirely on your device. No data is sent to any external server or AI service for processing.
Family Profiles
Family profile data is created and managed solely by the primary user. Family members are not required to create accounts or provide consent through the app.
HealthKit Integration
Symptio can optionally read data from Apple HealthKit to help you correlate symptoms with health metrics. This access is:
- Read-only — Symptio never writes data to HealthKit
- On-device only — HealthKit data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted anywhere
- Optional — you can use Symptio without granting HealthKit access
- Controlled by you — you choose exactly which health categories to share via iOS Health permissions
Specifically, Symptio may read: heart rate, sleep analysis, step count, and active energy burned.

iCloud Sync
If you enable iCloud sync, your symptom data is synced through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit). This means:
- Data is stored in your personal iCloud account, protected by your Apple ID
- Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple
- We (Smart Kiitös) have zero access to your iCloud data
- If you stop using iCloud sync, your data remains on your device

What We Don't Collect
- No email addresses or phone numbers
- No account registration required
- No location data
- No browsing or usage analytics
- No advertising identifiers
- No third-party tracking SDKs
- No health data is ever sent to our servers (we don't have servers)
PDF/CSV Export
Symptio allows you to export your symptom data as PDF or CSV reports. These reports are generated entirely on your device. The exported files are shared using the iOS share sheet — where you send them is your choice.
Notifications
Symptio uses local notifications (on your device) to remind you to log symptoms. These notifications are processed entirely on your device and are never sent to any server.
Subscriptions & Payments
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store any payment information (credit card numbers, billing addresses, etc.). Apple processes all transactions according to their privacy policy.
Third-Party Services
The only external services used are Apple's CloudKit for optional sync and Apple's HealthKit for optional health data correlation, both governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Data Retention & Deletion
- All your data is stored on your device and/or your iCloud account
- Deleting the app removes all local data
- To remove iCloud data, you can delete it from your iCloud storage in iOS Settings
- We have no servers and retain no copies of your data
Children's Privacy
Symptio does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app does not require any personal information to function. Family profiles are stored locally and are never transmitted to us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
