Tanklet stores the following information locally on your device:
All of this data is game state created by playing. None of it identifies you, and none of it is ever sent to us.
Tanklet syncs your save across your devices through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit), using your private iCloud database. This means:
For details on how Apple handles iCloud data, see Apple's iCloud Privacy Overview.
Visiting lets other players look at one of your tanks. It is off by default and nothing is shared until you turn it on. You can choose Friends only (people who have your friend code or invite link) or Everyone (your tank may also appear when others browse), and you can turn it off at any time.
When Visiting is on, Tanklet stores the following in a public iCloud (CloudKit) database that belongs to the app — again on Apple's servers, not ours:
It never includes your fish's names, your other tanks, your stored fish, coins or purchases, your Apple ID, or anything that identifies you. There is no chat and no free text anywhere in Visiting. Your friends list and block list are kept in your private iCloud database, not the public one.
Turning Visiting off removes your tank snapshot from the public database. Blocking a player hides their tank and anything they send you. A tank reported by three different players is automatically hidden from everyone.
Invite links in a browser. If you share your invite link, anyone who opens it in a web browser sees the same tank snapshot drawn on the page: the generated name, your level, and the fish and decorations in your shared tank. Our website reads the snapshot from the public database each time the page is opened and does not keep a copy. If Visiting is off, or the tank has been hidden after reports, the page shows only the invite.
To understand which features are actually used, so we can improve the app, Tanklet keeps simple per-day counters of in-app events on your device. After a day is over, it uploads one summary record for that day to Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) servers, in a public CloudKit database belonging to Smart Kiitös. No third-party analytics service is involved, and no server of ours.
That record contains only:
It never contains anything you create or enter (no tank names, fish names, notes, photos or other content), no health data, no name, email address, Apple ID, device identifier or advertising identifier, and no precise location. Apple's servers attach an opaque random identifier to each record; we do not read it, and we cannot link records to a person or across days.
These statistics are not linked to your identity, not used for tracking, not shared with or sold to anyone, and not used for advertising. Tanklet's App Store privacy label declares them as Usage Data › Product Interaction, used for Analytics, not linked to you and not used for tracking.
Tanklet can render a snapshot picture of your tank so you can save or share it. The image is generated entirely on your device and is only saved or shared through the standard iOS share sheet, with your explicit action each time. Tanklet does not access your photo library or camera on its own.
Tanklet uses local notifications (on your device) for optional care reminders — for example when your fish get hungry. These are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device, are off until you enable them, and are never sent to any server.
The Tanklet widget shows a snapshot of your tank on the Home Screen, Lock Screen, or in StandBy. The snapshot is shared between the app and the widget through a private App Group container on your device — it never leaves it.
In-app purchases (pearls, the Tanklet+ subscription) are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store any payment information (credit card numbers, billing addresses, etc.). Apple processes all transactions according to their privacy policy.
The only external service used is Apple's iCloud (CloudKit): your private database for save sync and, for the anonymous usage counts, a public CloudKit database belonging to Smart Kiitös. Both are governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Tanklet is a calm, family-friendly game, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone — including children under 13. The app requires no personal information to play; the fish names you enter are stored locally and in your own iCloud, and are never transmitted to us. The anonymous usage counts described above contain nothing about who is playing.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
